    • Since the clusters we study are confined to a relatively small volume of the sample, the intermolecular dynamics should not be strongly affected by different boundary conditions. Also the number of molecules is regarded as being large enough to avoid artefacts due to the periodicity of the system.

    • This type of function may be found, e.g. in the intermolecular potential function of N-H in ammonia (Klein M L, McDonald I R and Righini R 1979 J. Chem. Phys. 71 3673) in order to describe the transition from the solid into the liquid phase correctly.

    • note
    • Performing the integration over the time correlation functions of the internal vibrations (which may be related to an internal diffusion) one finds that it is a factor of four to five smaller than for the librational motions. This is, of course, in line with our supposition that the clusters should be stable in the sense that they form a loosely bonded supermolecule.
