    • We note that there is a discontinuity in this distribution: the number of chains with 99 of their 100 monomers in trains is sharply depressed. This simply reflects the fact that in this cubic lattice model it is impossible for an adsorbed chain to have all but one of its monomers on the surface, unless the free monomer is at the chain end. This drastically reduces the probability of a chain having 99% of its segments in trains. We also note that the fraction of adsorbed chains with zero surface contacts is nil; by definition, an adsorbed chain must have at least one monomer in contact with the surface.
