In Figure 3, the sharp low-angle peaks due to the hexagonal columnar arrangement of the gold complex are so intense that the high-angle region appears to be almost featureless. It is therefore difficult to judge any possible intracolumnar ordering, such as persistence of the "dimer" structure in the meaophase, from the X-ray diffraction data.
