(Formula presented) decreases from a value of roughly θ for small r (sites are likely either both within or outside an island), to (Formula presented) for large r (sites are independently occupied), through a local minimum for r somewhat larger than the typical island “radius” (one site is likely within an island, and the other is in the depletion zone surrounding the island).
