    • a, in which the exponent a depends on the termination mechanism of the free-radical chain polymerization. The value of a is 0.5 in the case of a bimolecular termination reaction and 1 in the case of a termination reaction by a monomolecular radical trapping reaction. It has been reported that for photoinitiated polymerization of diacrylates a = 0.7 at the reaction onset and that this value approaches 1 as the reaction proceeds and the living chain ends are prevented to reach each other. For reasons of simplicity we have taken a to be equal to 1. See ref 23 and: Kloosterboer, J. G.; Lijten, G. F. C. M.; Zegers, C. P. G. PMSE 1989, 60, 122.
