- The methiodide salts of cyclopentanone (entry 1) and cyclohexanone (entry 2) Mannich bases were synthesized by stirring the amine with excess iodomethane in dioxane for ca. 12h, followed by evaporation of the dioxane and trituration of the residue with anhydrous ether to afford a light yellow or off white crystalline solid.
