    • A unified synthetic strategy to systematize the preparative chemistry of layered oxovanadium phosphates is presented. The synthetic approach is based on the idea that the resulting network in the final solid would essentially be controlled by the nature of the ionic aggregates present in the mother solution, which makes critical the control of the hydrolysis and condensation processes. The results are organized on the basis of two complementary models: the Partial Charge Model and the Valence Matching Principle. A comparative study of this family shows significant crystallochemical correlations with the radius of the guest cations.
