Paltiel et al. (cond-mat/9808218) show the importance of surface barrier effects in the first (virgin) cycle. However, in our case, vortex state in the ZFC mode is to be notionally identified with the vortex state in the forward hysterisis cycle. Surface barriers are not expected to play any role during the repeated cyclings along forward/reverse hysterisis paths
