    • The electron affinity is defined as the difference in energy between the molecule and the molecular radical anion when both are in their ground electronic, vibrational, and rotational states. The common assumption that the electron affinities can be approximated with the difference in enthalpy of formation between the molecule and the molecular radical anion at 298 K implies that the heat capacities and their temperature dependence are the same for both species (see also ref 38).
