    • In the SG problem, the defect energy has been calculated to estimate the effective coupling at length scale L. However, it is not obvious that the defect energy with the conventional boundary conditions is really related to the effective coupling. Hence we consider a naive defect energy [e.g., E. Möller-Hartmann and J. Zittartz, Z. Phys. B 27, 261 (1977)].
