although this ambitious project goes outside the framework of pure chiral perturbation theory

We refer the reader to an interesting and instructive pedagogical demonstration of the use of a cutoff in an effective theory-G.P. Lepage, nucl-th-9706029. A momentum space cutoff has also been employed in the work of W. Bardeen, A.J. Buras, J.M. Gerard, see Nucl. Phys. B 293 (1987) 787, although this ambitious project goes outside the framework of pure chiral perturbation theory.
