8. A redistribution of holes after photocreation could not be responsible for this behavior. This is because an increase in forward bias would result in the hole population shifting from right to left within the bridging region, increasing the intensity of the lower energy transitions, exactly the opposite of the behavior observed in Fig. 2.
9. PL spectra measured at direct current biases greater than 4.2 V are not consistent with those obtained at lower bias due to sample heating effects. This is not the case for intersubband EL measurements, where pulsed bias conditions (10 μs pulses, 5 kHz) are employed to minimize heating.
