- The extrapolation of the energy of a quasihole and a quasiparticle at ν = { case 1 over 3 }, as performed in Ref. 8, was incorrect, since was based on the assumption that the energy E / N of a system containing one quasiparticle or quasihole could reliably be fitted by a polynomial in N-1. Subsequently, we discovered that the presence of a term scaling as N-3/2 had prevented reliable extrapolation of the quasiparticle and quasihole energy. We give the correct estimates here. For the Laughlin quasihole we find curlep = 0 . 029 (3), for the Laughlin quasiparticle we find curlep = 0 . 080 ( 4 ), and for the ``pair'' approximation to the quasiparticle (see Ref. 8) we find curlep = 0 . 076 ( 3 ).
