The physical considerations of this paper are in the spirit of Sakurai and his analysis of the neutron interferometry experiments. Therefore, all physical variables refer to their flat space-time values. The effects of gravity are incorporated via an interaction energy term in the quantum-mechanical equation of motion. The gravitational interaction energy term(s) are obtained as implications of the principle of equivalence and the discussion remains valid in the weak-field limit for both nonrelativistic and relativistic cases.
