The normal-state resistivity of the etched NCCO crystals (ρnapp 100 μ Ω cm) is consistent with the experimental value of microwave surface resistance Rn= ( μ0ω ρn/ 2 )1/2 of the single crystal within 10%.

For single-crystal samples (with the assumption that Xn= Rn>> Xs, Rs), there is a relation between the total change in the bandwidth ( δ f) and the frequency shift (Δ f) of the cavity between the normal and superconducting state: 2 Δ f = Δ δ f. This requirement can be reduced to Xn( T > Tc) - Xn(T=0) = Rn( T > Tc) - Rs(T=0) for bulk samples. Our data from single crystals satisfy this condition well. For a detailed discussion see

Very near Tc, both measured λmeas(T) and Rs,meas (T) are related to their true bulk values by λmeas= λtruetanh(t/2 λtrue) and Rs,meas = Rs,true tanh(t/ 2 λtrue) due to the size effect from finite film thickness t.
