    • The existence of oscillations in the interlayer coupling through the nonmagnetic spacer vs the thickness of the ferromagnetic metal has been predicted [P. Bruno, Europhys. Lett. 23, 615 (1993)]. Such oscillations have been observed experimentally by Bloemen et. al in epitaxial Co/Cu/Co(100) multilayers [Phys. Rev. Lett. 72, 764 (1994)]. However, these oscillations are quite difficult to observe. They have a weak amplitude around a nonzero average value. In our sputtered films, considering the roughness of the interfaces and the slight intermixing between NiFe and Ag, one could expect these oscillations to be smeared out, so that it is reasonable that the coupling is independent on the NiFe thickness.
