    • The numbers reported in Ref. 6 are somewhat in error because of a small leak in the nozzle source. The correct values for (N) used in the present paper are taken from Ref. 20.

    • 5 atoms, the surface to volume ratio becomes small enough that "fully solvated" helium atoms fairly deep within the cluster are predominantly ionized. Following ionization up to 5000 atoms are evaporated and the remaining ionic clusters are only a few percent smaller than the neutral clusters. As a consequence the signal of small ionic fragments is expected to be much smaller.
