    • Theoretical calculations show that if the termination rate is a factor of 5000 less than the polymerization rate, 99.3% of monomer ultimately is converted to polymer; if the factor is dropped to 2000, ultimate conversion drops to 86.5%. Thus ultimate conversion of monomer is very sensitive to the ratio of the termination rate to polymerization rate; see ref 33.

    • The deprotection of the benzyl groups of poly-1 and poly-2 leaves acid- and alchohol-substituted polymers that are identical with the products of ROMP of 4 and 6, respectively. We therefore have labeled the product polymers poly-4 and poly-6, respectively, although they are not synthesized by direct polymerization of 4 and 6.
