    • A similar approach has been used by A. L. Kholodenko and A. L. Beyerlein (Phys. Rev. A 1986, 34, 3309) to study phase transitions in simple electrolytes. Several points of their formulation overlap with ours, but they consider only symmetric electrolytes with no macroions. Their goal is an analytical analysis of the critical properties of an electrolytic solution near the onset of, for example, a liquid - gas phase transition, which differs greatly from the focus of our efforts to develop a systematic, algorithmically oriented theory of macroion screening.
