22. MPA SAMs were prepared by exposing a freshly evaporated gold film (ca. 500 Å thick) on a Cr-primed glass slide to a 1 mM solution of 3-mercaptopropanoic acid (Fluka, as received, 98%) in ethanol for ca. 18 h, followed by rinsing with ethanol and drying with N2 gas.
