    • We take into account the fact that the short wavelength structure does not change the global velocity of motion of a vortex arc, which can be illustrated in the following way. Consider a plane vortex ring formed by two arcs, the first one being smooth and the second one covered with a short wavelength structure. Then to a good approximation, the momentum ( refP) is perpendicular to the plane of the ring since the net contribution of the wave structure is close to zero. If the two arcs had essentially different velocities, the momentum would acquire a component tangent to the plane of the initial ring. But this contradicts the momentum conservation.
