    • A preliminary account on AFM study of the 6Az10-PVA monolayer has already appeared: Seki, T.; Tanaka, K.; Ichimura, K. Maromolecules 1997, 30, 6401. In this paper the reduction of the film thickness due to UV light illumination is reported to be only 13% of the trans-Az film. The discrepancy can be ascribed to the difference in the experimental procedure of AFM measurements. We have newly succeeded in carrying out in situ observations at an identical position with much shorter time for measurement. We believe that the thickness values stated in the text of this paper is more creditable.
