6. George Rugg, Exhibits Coordinator, is the Web master for University Libraries' locally created sports pages. He related the two primary reasons that the addresses changed. The first concerned the use of the tilde in the former addresses. Experience has shown that this symbol can cause retrieval problems. Second, the new addresses encourage more results to keyword searches because people are likely to search the Internet for an institution coupled with a topic. For example, "Notre Dame" and "sports" would be likely combinations to search. Furthermore, he assured us that the links from the former addresses would be maintained. 8. University of Notre Dame. Library Electronic Products Discussion Group. Recommendations on the Processing of Electronic Products (EPDG, Notre Dame, IN, photocopy, October 17, 1997). Convened by Laura Sill, Serials Head, the EPDG's recommendations offered our initial local standards for processes ranging from acquisition to access of electronic products at a time when national standards were emerging. Participants from across the libraries comprised the group whose interests converged to create eight recommendations for our environment: acquisitions order, receipt, routing, bibliographic access, location designation, call number display, holdings display, records maintenance. EPDG's work is carried on by two new groups, Advisory Committee on Electronic Resources (ACER) and the Working Group on Bibliographic Access to Electronic Resources (WGBAER).
