    • Ethylene concentration in the solution was found to vary ca. 20% in the temperature range -80 to +40°C as measured against an internal standard. We treated ethylene as a constant in calculating equilibrium constants because ethylene concentration was sufficiently in excess (>50-fold) compared to the ruthenium complexes in all cases. An analogous measurement of equilibrium constants at a higher pressure of ethylene ([ethylene] = 2.2 M) was found to give virtually identical thermodynamic parameter values.
