    • The intermediate oxide layer can usually be neglected in the analysis of single-electron devices with double-layer islands. In linear arrays double-layer islands can be avoided. Most of the 2e-periodic results on double-junction circuits were measured on devices with a single-layer island [3,4,14-16].
