7. Our 1D model applies to condensates transversely confined by oscillator frequencies exceeding the longitudinal excitation frequencies determined in the paper. This condition is only marginally possible to fulfill with present condensates. Unbounded motion in the transverse coordinates is another possibility, where, however, formation of Rayleigh-Bénard-type instabilities may occur like in nonlinear optics—if observable, violations of our predictions due to such instabilitites would constitute an attractive domain of research.
