17. This conclusion cannot be directly inferred from Jackson and Hunt's [7] work, since a "minimum undercooling assumption" is made. For a uniform temperature field no such minimization can be made. Nevertheless, if these arguments are extended to minimize the distance between the A-X front and the concentration front, the same velocity-wavelength relationship is obtained.
