This elastic energy comes out as heat when the sample is heated to the annealing temperature. (A technology of molding polymers into heat-sensitive shapes is based on the introduction of local stresses.) Data obtained after thermally cycling the sample between 130 and 140 K. which would eliminate this effect, are desirable.
