7. The immersion depth seems not to be critical from tip apex point of view. However, the exposed wire surface will affect the power delivery requirement from the voltage source. Although conceivable, we have not used any shielding on the wire shank. Usually a wire approximately 5 mm long is exposed to the electrolyte giving a peak current in the 1 Å range.
