The incorporation of thermal effects poses no conceptual problems. Indeed, the method utilized in Ref. 34, if applied making use of E({Ri}) instead of its harmonic approximation around the equilibrium configuration, naturally leads to the temperature dependence of the static (and dynamic) polarizability, as well as the linewidth of the plasmon due to its coupling to the ionic vibrations (Ref. 17).
