    • We obtained the spectrum in Fig. 3 on a home-built 7.4 T NMR spectrometer (79.9 MHz for [inline formula]) utilizing a double resonance probe with a 7 mm double bearing rotor assembly (Doty Scientific, Inc., Columbia, SC). The proton channel [inline formula] pulse and decouple rf strength was 100 kHz. Cross polarization was performed for 0.5 ms with the proton power reduced to match the [inline formula] channel rf field of 50.5 kHz. The spinning speed was maintained within 2 Hz during acquisition. D,L-alanine-l,2,3-[inline formula] was purchased from MSD Isotopes and used without further purification
