The case of a random telegraph signal mass has recently been solved by A. Comtet, J. Desbois, and C. Monthus, Ann. Phys. (Paris) 239, 312 (1995). The low-energy asymptotics of the density of states coincides with Eq. (1). This strongly suggests that the Gaussian distribution of the mass is genuine and can be used for describing the low-energy fixed point.
