    • 2 and 1 produced complete conversion of the olefin to the epoxide in 1 h. The small conversion observed upon addition of superoxide to the olefin is most likely due to hydrogen peroxide that is formed by disproportionation of superoxide. These results indicate that while superoxide may be formed in these reactions, it is not the oxygen transfer reagent.
