We used pyrolytic hBN having a three-dimensional ordering parameter (Formula presented), where (Formula presented) is the number of layers which are oriented regularly with respect to the nearest layers, and (Formula presented) is the total number of layers in the coherent scattering region. The average size of crystal grains was 6-10 nm, deduced from the broadening of the x-ray diffraction peaks and direct HRTEM observations. The sample contains a negligible amount of the rhombohedral phase judging from the x-ray and Raman spectra.
