9. For U, this means the neutron radius must be known to better than 5% [see Eq. (1.1) of Ref. 8 ]. U charge distributions are known to a fraction of a percent [e.g., D. A. Close et al, Phys. Rev. C 17, 1433 (1978)], and measurements in other nuclei indicate that neutron and charge radii differ by only a few percent [e.g., L. Ray, ibid. 19, 1855 (1979)]. Comparisons between experimental data and nuclear models might allow further reduction of this uncertainty (see Refs. 6–8).
