    • This strong ferromagnet approximation has beenused here only for simplicity. The method developed in this paper, however, does not depend upon this approximation and can be used with kM as defined in Eq. ( refe9) for arbitrary values of I /.

    • The microscopic boundary conditions for the Usadelequations at an S/M interface are unknown. Reference 11 deals with magnetically active interfaces using the more general Eilenberger theory. However, the results of Ref. 11 indicate a possibility of a discontinuity in F /. The origin is the difference in the transmission (and reflection) coefficients across magnetically active interfaces for two different spin orientations. In this case we may take FS(x,ω)=η1FM(x,ω) and dFS(x,ω)/dx=η2dFM(x,ω)/dx /, but only the ratio η=η2/η1 enters the results.
