One can calculate the quantity (Formula presented) instead of (Formula presented) when there is a gaplike feature in the DOS near (Formula presented) is calculated numerically from (Formula presented) by using a weighting function and a spectral width of the order of the gap (Ref. 17). Division of (Formula presented) by (Formula presented) instead of (Formula presented) smooths out the numerical divergences near zero bias. But this procedure also removes information from the region near zero bias, which is a very important region in our discussions. Therefore, for the region near zero bias we have analyzed only the (Formula presented) curves and we have calculated (Formula presented) only outside the gap region.
