A note about anharmonic distortions: In XAFS analysis, if a pair distribution has a significant third moment, that is, if the distribution is skewed, then if this moment is not accounted for in the fits, one will measure a false decrease in bond length with temperature [P. Eisenberger and G. S. Brown, Solid State Commun. 29, 418 (1979)]. These data can be fit with a large third moment of (Formula presented) However, inclusion of such a moment in the fit does not significantly change any of the results listed above.
