Were the amine able to reduce the palladium acetate, it would result in the formation of palladium metal in the absence of any ligand able to stabilize the palladium(0). This metallic palladium could not be of course detected by cyclic voltammetry, It was reported that triethylamine partially reduces complexes such as PdCl2(RCN) (R = Ph or Me) into metallic palladium.
