17. Decoupling the appropriate methyl protons simplifies this methine signal to a singlet having measurable doublet satellites.
18. Due to the overlapping of the multiplets in the methine region, the methyl protons must be decoupled to simplify the methine signals. Once this is accomplished, the chemical shifts, satellites, and coupling can be accurately determined.
19. This signal is broad at its base relative to other signals in its spectrum. indicating averaged Pb-C coupling.
20. Fewer than the expected seven lines could be resolved due to a limited signal-to-noise ratio.
